Details of Two-circuit pressure regulator - new, IFA L60
Two-circuit pressure regulator - new, IFA L60
The pressure regulator is checked and adjusted before shipping.
We adjust the pressure regulator in such a way, that it opens around 10 – 10,5 bar and closes around 8 – 8,5 bar. These values are lower, than the manufacturer specific values, however they are more advantageous to the vehicle on the long run.
- A typical fault of the L60, is that the crankshaft of the compressor breaks and the compressor valves burning. By setting the pressure under 12 bar, these problems can be avoided or delayed. Doing so will raise the lifetime of the compressor.
- The factory value of 12 bar was set, because the vehicle was planned to tow 2 trailers. In practice this is very rare. With our settings and without towing a trailer, there will remain enough pressure in the 3rd circle after 3 subsequent emergency breaking, that the clutch and gearbox remains operational.
An additional advice, which is often mistook: When we are looking for faults in the air system, the pressure values must be read at each air-reservoir independently. The values should never be read from the pressure gauge in the cab, because they show a reduced pressure value by the 3-circuit protection valve.
